Peacock’s “Twisted Metal” Features Anthony Mackie and Will Arnett in a Post-Apocalyptic World
A Zany Property Turned into an Action Comedy
Peacock, the streaming service, will premiere a new half-hour action-comedy series titled “Twisted Metal” next month. This show is based on the long-running PlayStation video game series that features various people driving souped-up cars across a post-apocalyptic landscape trying to blow each other to smithereens. The TV series is an adaptation of the game, and it looks like it will be a pretty fun one. While “Twisted Metal” might not be the first option that comes to mind when you think video game adaptations, the star-studded cast makes the show exciting. Apart from Anthony Mackie, playing the lead character John Doe, there are many other notable names in the cast. Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Hayden Church, and Neve Campbell will join Mackie in the quest to survive the post-apocalyptic landscape.
Sweet Tooth: The Iconic Clown of Twisted Metal
One of the essential characters in Twisted Metal is Sweet Tooth, a maniacal clown who drives an ice cream truck. Will Arnett portrays the iconic clown in this series. The first look of this clown is now available online. Sweet Tooth looks massive in his appearance. This suggests that Will Arnett put on a lot of weight for this role, or he’s using a body double. In the released clip, we also see John Doe dueling with Sweet Tooth in a Casino. After winning the duel, Sweet Tooth puts on “killin’ music,” aka Sisqó’s “Thong Song,” and the two bond over the music. The released clip shows us that the TV series will be an action comedy, and it will be an absurd adaptation of the video game property.
No Vehicles in Sight
In the clip, we do not see any of the familiar trademark vehicles of war present in the video game. This has raised concerns among fans about the show’s authenticity. However, Sweet Tooth and John Doe mention their respective vehicles in the clip, suggesting that just because they aren’t in sight, it doesn’t mean they won’t appear in the series. Fans can reasonably assume that there will be plenty of Mad Max-style car shenanigans in the show.
Conclusion
All ten episodes of “Twisted Metal” season 1 will release on Peacock on July 27. Fans eagerly anticipate the premiere, and the show’s release date is fast approaching. The fact that this zany property is turning into an action-comedy adaptation is an exciting prospect. The star-studded cast and the series’ premise promise to deliver an entertainment-filled experience to the audience. “Twisted Metal” will undoubtedly appeal to fans of the video game series and newcomers alike.
