Nuggets on Brink of First NBA Title After Genius Trade Pays Off with Gordon’s Stellar Performance
The Denver Nuggets are on their way to potentially winning their first NBA championship title after defeating the Miami Heat 108-95 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. This victory puts the Nuggets on the brink of glory with Aaron Gordon stepping up with 27 points, six assists, and six rebounds, which makes him the team’s unsung hero for this season.
Jokic and Murray’s Historical Record in Nuggets’ Win
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, Denver Nuggets’ dynamic duo, both had shining moments during Game 4, which resulted in a historical record for the pair. Although Murray was coming off a 34-point triple-double in Game 3, he wasn’t able to get into his usual shooting rhythm during Game 4, going 5-for-17 from the field. However, Murray’s playmaking skills were evident as he became the first player to record ten-plus assists in his first four NBA Finals games.
Gordon’s Unsung Hero Performance
As much as Denver’s success owes to Jokic and Murray’s two-man game, Aaron Gordon’s contributions to the team’s win were crucial. Gordon stood tall through his dominant performance in Game 1 and lifted his game on both ends of the court during Game 4. Gordon proved to be the game-changer throughout the Finals series, making it evident that the aggressive trade with Orlando in 2021 was undoubtedly a success.
Gordon: The Truly Selfless Player
Denver Nuggets’ Coach, Michael Malone, waxed eloquent about Aaron Gordon in a recent press statement, describing him as “truly selfless” in taking on whatever role best suits the team. According to Malone, Gordon always understood that his role would change with Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr’s return. Instead of fighting it, Gordon embraced it from day one of the season and went out of his way to guard top players like Karl-Anthony Towns, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and now Jimmy Butler. Malone praised Gordon for doing the dirty work that often goes unnoticed but crucial for the team’s success.
Final Thoughts
Apart from Gordon’s excellent performance, Bruce Brown’s clutch last quarter performance, with eleven points, silenced the Miami crowd. Miami will need to do better in the next game, especially with its starters, Gabe Vincent and Max Strus, combining for only two points in the previous game. Although Jimmy Butler was solid during Game 4 with 25 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, he has not had a vintage Finals performance yet. There is an injury concern for Denver, with Jokic appearing to twist his ankle on an offensive rebound in the first quarter. However, given the Nugget’s team’s attitude and grit, we expect them to bounce back and potentially clinch their first NBA championship in the upcoming game.
