West Coast Eagles receive criticism from David King after AFL defeat to Adelaide Crows
The West Coast Eagles have been urged to show resilience by former North Melbourne player and current AFL analyst, David King, after suffering a massive 122-point defeat to the Adelaide Crows on Saturday. Taylor Walker, who was playing his 250th AFL game, kicked a career-high ten goals in the match, taking the Crows to a record-breaking victory against the Eagles.
The struggling season for West Coast Eagles
The Eagles are currently going through a tough season, having won just one match out of their 12 games. This has significantly impacted their coach, Adam Simpson, who now faces an uncertain future with the club. The defeat against the Crows added to the club’s misery, leaving King concerned about Simpson’s job security.
At the halftime break, King gave a frank assessment of the team’s performance and urged the players to lift their game. He commented, “Adam Simpson is fighting for his job in Western Australia, and performances like this don’t help. They need to lift, show some resolve as the proud football club they are.”
The impressive performance by Adelaide Crows
In contrast to the Eagles’ struggles, Adelaide Crows delivered an impressive performance in front of their home fans. The Crows dominated the midfield, with Rory Laird, Jordan Dawson, and Ben Keays racking up a significant number of disposals. Walker’s ten-goal match performance was remarkable and helped boost Adelaide’s percentage by 11.3.
The Crows’ victory over the Eagles took them to the eighth spot on the ladder, with seven wins and six losses for the season so far. The win was also the largest margin in coach Matthew Nicks’ tenure of the club.
Final thoughts
The defeat against the Crows indicates that the West Coast Eagles need to re-evaluate their season and find a way to turn their form around. As King stated, the team needs to show resilience and determination to maintain their proud reputation. However, with the current results and the pressure on coach Simpson, it remains to be seen if the Eagles can win back their confidence in the following games.
