Foo Fighters Announce Stadium Tour in Australia and New Zealand
After the release of their 11th studio album, “But Here We Are”, American rock band Foo Fighters have announced a major stadium tour in Australia and New Zealand, starting November 29th at Perth’s HBF Park and concluding on January 27th, 2024, at Sky Stadium in Wellington, NZ.
A Love Affair with Australasia
Despite not having a headline tour of the Australasia region since 2018, Foo Fighters continue to enjoy a loyal following in this part of the world. The band’s latest album, “Medicine At Midnight”, topped the ARIA charts upon its release in February 2021 – their eighth No. 1 in the region. The Foo Fighters returned to Australasia last year for a special date at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, 40 miles southwest of Melbourne, for the first full-capacity stadium show since early 2020 by an international act. Produced by Frontier Touring, founded by late music mogul Michael Gudinski, who shared a close relationship with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, the upcoming tour continues the band’s love affair with Australia and New Zealand.
A New Dawn for the Foos
“But Here We Are” signals a new chapter for the Foo Fighters. The album represents a new musical direction and marks the band’s first following the untimely passing of their drummer Taylor Hawkins last year. Josh Freese, a renowned drummer and studio musician, was unveiled as the band’s permanent drummer ahead of the world tour.
Tour Details
The tour will feature major stadium shows in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington. Besides Foo Fighters, The Chats, Teenage Jones, Body Type, Hot Milk, Teen Jesus, and the Jean Teasers, and Dick Move are the other bands that will make special guest appearances throughout the tour. Pre-sales for the tour are available from June 9th, and tickets go on sale on June 15th via frontiertouring.com/foofighters.
Editorial and Advice
The Foo Fighters’ announcement of their tour comes as a ray of light for the nation’s music industry that has been decimated by the pandemic. After successive lockdowns across Australia and New Zealand, the tour couldn’t come at a better time to rekindle the spirit of live music. We urge all fans and live music enthusiasts to support the band, be mindful of all COVID-safe measures and enjoy the music responsibly.
